Sturdy Storage: the first live pilot

Sturdy Storage is a Wiltshire self-storage business run by Joe Sturdy's family — and the site where Sturdy Ai runs its own product first. This page is a working scaffold for that case study. The challenge and approach below are accurate; the results section is intentionally left as placeholders until the pilot has run long enough to measure properly.

01 — The challenge

A small independent site, answering every call itself

Sturdy Storage is a single-site independent operator — no call centre, no shift rota big enough to guarantee someone is free every time the phone rings. Enquiry calls don't arrive on a schedule: they come in the evening, at lunch, on a Sunday, whenever a customer's own moving day forces the decision.

Left unaddressed, that creates the same pattern most independent storage sites face:

  • Calls that ring out when the office is unattended or already on another call
  • Manual, repetitive admin quoting unit sizes and availability from memory or a spreadsheet
  • Bookings that depend on someone finding time to enter them into Stora correctly
  • No consistent way to follow up on a question nobody on-site could answer immediately
02 — The approach

Answer, wired directly into Stora

Sturdy Ai deployed its own Answer product on Sturdy Storage's live phone line — the same number a real customer calls, answered under the Sturdy Storage brand rather than a generic assistant.

  • Direct Stora integration — the agent checks real unit availability and writes bookings straight into Stora, no manual re-entry
  • No card details taken over the phone — the agent texts a secure Stora checkout link so the customer pays on their own device
  • An escalation loop that's live and proven: when the agent hits a question it doesn't know, it texts the operator; the operator's reply is written into the agent's knowledge; the agent then calls the customer back with the answer
  • Self-improving on facts (level 3 — self-updating knowledge), while workflow changes stay human-approved (levels 1–2) before they go live

You can call the same agent this pilot uses on +44 7575 570808 — it isn't a demo built separately from the real deployment.

03 — The results

Measured, not estimated — once the pilot window closes

Calls answered vs. previously missed
[Proof numbers land here after the measured pilot window]
Bookings taken by the agent
[Proof numbers land here after the measured pilot window]
Escalations resolved via the SMS loop
[Proof numbers land here after the measured pilot window]
Nothing above is a real figure. This section stays blank, clearly marked, until Sturdy Storage's pilot has run for a proper measurement window and the numbers can be reported honestly — no placeholder gets swapped for an estimate or a guess in the meantime.
